EVERYONE                  GOES HOME

This. This mantra on the garage door of the Bloomfield Township Fire Department moved me and I felt it to my core. Everyone. Goes. Home. The chosen profession is absolutely selfless and the men and women that choose it are hero’s every day. They are family to one another and to the communities they serve. And while most times the public sees them as smiling goodwill ambassadors to the community, their job could not be more serious. Photographing Sarah gave me entrée into a little bit of this world. The spotless red trucks were ever so shiny, the axes, firehoses and rigs expected, but the way the firehouse framed itself in sunlight and shadows moved me, absolute. Everyone. Goes. Home. Thank you, Sarah, for what you chose to become and for choosing bravery every day.
